In a series of tweets by World Game Star Phoenix head coach Lae-sung “Wavy“ Kang has revealed that the players and staff in their Overwatch division have decided to leave the organization. Wavy said that the team are staying together and are hoping that a professional organization or sponsor will pick them up.
As far was World Game Star Phoenix, Wavy revealed the team only have seed rights and does not have support for equipment, lodging, and salary.
This roster recently competed at TEN 2022 Overwatch Special Match #2 back in April finishing second losing to Talon Esports in the finals. In the most recent season of Overwatch Contenders: Korea, WGS Phoenix finished the season 2nd overall, but were eliminated in Round 1 of the Losers Bracket once the playoffs started.
