Loot Box Ban Proposed In The Netherlands

It seems that it is likely that the practice of loot boxes could see another ban as six political parties in the Netherlands have united to propose the banning of loot boxes within the country.

The motion says that“in video games, children are manipulated into making microtransactions and that loot boxes are also a form of gambling”.

The ethics of loot boxes have been in question for a few years with several congressional members across the world speaking out on the practice. The practice is already deemed illegal within Belgium which has caused some changes on developer’s business practices within the country. This includes the removal of FIFA points and the release of Diablo Immortal being blocked within the country.
