Report: Third Party Devs Being Told By Nintendo To Rush Switch Games

According to a report by Nikkei, Nintendo has told third-party developers to rush the development of what they consider to be major releases. The order is reportedly coming from the higher-ups within Nintendo. One executive at a major studio said Nintendo asked them to introduce major releases “as early as possible.”

The feeling is that the Switch has been made with better development tools that make games easier to be made for, hence who some believe games could be released faster. It’s also believed that analyst predictions of the Switch’s worldwide sales increasing as the amount of units sold is released to their shareholders could also play a role. Currently several analyst predict that 14 million Switch units could be sold worldwide by the end of the year.

With Nintendo releasing games such as Super Mario Odyssey and Splatoon 2 this year and E3 taking place next month, they could be under intense pressure to make sure these targets are reached.
