New Study Finds 31% Of Young U.K. Gamers Struggle Tracking Loot Box Spending

The Gambling Health Alliance have published a new studio of 611 young people within Wales, Scotland, and England focusing on loot boxes.

In this small study, it found that 31% of young gamers say they are unaware of how much they have spent on loot boxes.

A more scary part is 34% of all respondents saying they had first purchased them by the time they were 13. This was part of a subsection of the survey which found that 23% of those aged between 11-16 have spent real world money for loot boxes.

When it comes to the dollar amount, 22% of respondents confirmed they had spent over £100 on loot boxes.

It’s also worth noting that three members of this survey revealed that their parents were forced to remortgage their houses due to their spending while another admitted to resorting to crime to pay off debts related to loot box spending.
