EB Games, a subsidiary of GameStop, is trialing a “Swap ‘n’ Play” service in South Astralia that allows customers to play any pre-owned game in stock for a monthly fee. This allows subscribers of the service to select any pre-owned game in stock, play it, and swap it for another as many times a month as they choose.
According to Press Start, the service originally only implied to used games priced under $50, but that restriction was later lifted by EB Games.
EB Games stated..
“We created Swap ‘n’ Play to add value for our regular customers, especially parents. Over school holidays it’s not unusual for families to be in and out our doors finding new games to play. Swap ‘n’ Play allows for a hassle-free and more affordable shop.
“The service is for our EB World members and is entirely receipt-free. It’s just $19.95 a month and after 2 months customers can cancel at any time.”
EB Games have said they have received “positive feedback” and this service could later expand outside of Australia.
