Star Wars Battlefront A “Complete Mess” According To Alpha Tester

StarWarsBattlefront

Star Wars Battlefront is one of the most hyped games of the year, but it seems like it’s jets might be cooled down as a user by the name Illucio on NeoGAF has stated that he is a Alpha Tester for the game and has some very harsh words for what he has experienced so far. Illucio stated…

“I’ve been Alpha testing a few games and I can say Battlefront is a complete mess and is broken. Considering that their deadline for the game is in a few weeks and they still haven’t fixed the majority of the in game problems let alone the connection problem me and other testers were having, yes it’s going to be a mess. And even a day 1 patch won’t fix all of them, I don’t know too much outside what I played, but the game is indeed rushed and it’s all because of Episode 7 releasing this December.

And in retrospect I also tested black ops 3 which even though it had many problems, it was no where as bad as Battlefront.”

Another Alpha Tester has stated that the game is not broken, but did note that there are still numerous issues with the game. Stating the following thoughts…

“Hit detection was often very dodgy. When in third person view I could see my character being hit by shots and reacting, but my health never changed. Very often I saw enemy players strolling though groups of my team mates just mowing them down while we were all shooting them.

The flight mechanics are dumbed down to the point of being off-putting. I’ve never experienced such weak and unsatisfying mechanics in a recent AAA game.

The ‘Missions’ mode, which they’re trying to tout as a sort of replacement for a campaign, was very boring. It was essentially just a zone defence mode where you fight off a few waves of enemies. It felt more like a training mode.

The lack of a server browser is very worrying, and matchmaking in general didn’t seem to be able to balance teams.

The attacking team usually lost as the layout of the map and objectives just didn’t work. The AT-AT’s were very easy to take down. This could easily be worked on though. Players often struggled to know what they were supposed to be doing as objectives weren’t explained very well.”

While this is still a rumor, it is worth noting that since EA is aiming to release the game around the same time as Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released in theaters, it’s still possible that to many things are being rushed in order to beat the deadline.
