According to sources for games journalist Tom Henderson, Activision are currently looking at announcing Modern Warfare II (2022) later this summer.
Rumblings have also taken place indicating that they could break from their normal November release date and release as early as October. This is rumored to be in part due to the overall poor sales performance with Vanguard.
Please keep in mind this is still a rumor and nothing has been confirmed by any company involved with the development of Modern Warfare II. It is still worth noting that Henderson does have a good reputation when it comes to his reporting and both MW Ghost and Charlie Intel have backed the report.
