Rumor: EA To Rename FIFA Titles To “EA Sports Football Club”

According to sources for games journalist Jeff Grubb, Electronic Arts have greenlit their decision to rename the FIFA franchise of games going forward to “EA Sports Football Club” or “EA Sports FC.”

When discussing the news that EA had trademarked “EA FC” back in October and had it registered this past January. Grubb said:

“I saw trademarks for it, I thought that could be just a feature like an online mode, [but] I asked around about it [and] that’s it, that’s the name.”

Discussions came to light last October when the New York Times reported that negotiations between FIFA and EA had stalled that FIFA was asking for $2.5 billion for their license over the next 10 years.
