EA Claims They Are Not Planning In-Game Video Ads

Following a report last week by Axios, Electronic Arts released a public statement declining they are planning to have in-game video ads in their video games. This comes after the company partnered with in-game advertising platform playerWON which would bring TV ads to video games on both PC and consoles.

A spokesperson from EA stated:

“Following incorrect reports suggesting that we are looking to introduce ‘TV-style’ commercials into our games, we wanted to clarify that in-game advertising for console games is not something we’re currently looking at, or have signed any agreements to implement. Creating the best possible player experience remains our priority focus.”

Many gamers believe this is just damage control and will go ahead with implementing these in-game ads once the story fades away.
