As confirmed by Here’s The Thing, Australian esports organization Dire Wolves have announced they have released their entire CS:GO roster and will be fielding an entirely new roster in their place. This comes despite currently being ranked 2nd in the HLTV Oceanic regional rankings and currently competing in both ESEA Premier Division: Australia and ESL ANZ Champs Season 13.
In a statement to RushBMedia, Dire Wolves General Manager Craig Nimmo said the organization’s biggest concern is “lack of opportunity in the current climate that CS:GO does not provide in the region”. Nimmo stated that “the tournament structures, organizers, and the wider scene do not provide the opportunities [that] organizations need to build audiences and partner opportunities for exposure at the cost for which a team of players expects”.
Going forward, the team will still be competing, but with an entire new roster. This new roster will consist of the following players:
- Jared “HaZR” O’Bree
- Euan “sterling” Moore
- Benson “Liki” Niuila
- James “SaVage” Savage
- Mike “ap0c” Aliferis
