Very sad news as the San Francisco Police Department have started an investigation of a shooting threat made against Twitch at their headquarters. We know this due to multiple Twitch staff members sharing information via their personal social media accounts.
In a statement to Business Insider, a Twitch representative stated:
“We were made aware of a threat against our San Francisco HQ on Tuesday and have been working directly with law enforcement as they investigate. The safety and security of our employees is our top priority, and we are focused on ensuring this is resolved quickly and safely.”
While it’s believed that this threat was a sinister prank, the SFPD are taking the matter extremely serious and they say that the threat originated on Twitter, but couldn’t comment further due to it being an ongoing investigation. The police have also said that there is no longer an “active threat” at Twitch HQ.
