As first spotted by The Game Post, Marathon’s senior art director Joseph Cross has left Bungie after 13 years with the company. Cross did confirm to Kotaku that he did leave the company and “I’m super proud of the project and what the team accomplished over the last six years.”

Marathon has ran into a bunch of issues behind the scenes this year as it was originally scheduled to launch back on September 23, but was delayed until March 2026 due to mixed feedback amongst alpha testers and those within the studio. The game also ran into controversy back in May after Fern ‘4nt1r34l’ Hook accused the company of stealing artwork from them.

Marathon is currently in development for Playstation 5 and PC via Steam.
