Bandai Namco Reportedly Laid Off 100 Employees Within Year, Allegations of Oidashi Beya

As first reported by Automation, Bandai Namco has laid off around around 112 employees since April 2024. The outlet obtained this information from the database of Japan’s Pension Service which requires employers within the country to not how many employees receive some form of insurance with their employment.

A previous finding on LeakPress back in early December that 90 employees had quit up to that point in the year with 28 of them coming between October 1 and December 4.

It’s been alleged that Bandai Namco are conducting a practice known in Japan as Oidashi Beya. This is the practice of isolating some within the company and not assigning them with any tasks in the hopes they decide to leave the company on their own free will.
