Square Enix have taken to their Final Fantasy XIV forums to apologized for a recent price increase for Final Fantasy XIV. Shortly after the release of version 4.06, the Steam subscription price increased in both Brazil and Russia without any prior notification.
The company said the reason for this increase was to make sure the subscription price was fair to everyone around the world as Brazil and Russia were paying a lower monthly amount compared to everyone else. Square Enix stated..
“Before this change, the price for Brazilian and Russian Steam platform users was lower than what other users, even those in Brazil and Russia, were paying when not using the Steam platform. After the change, everyone was paying roughly the same price. “
