Something that has been receiving a lot of attention over the past week is the introduction of YouTube Red. Most of this has come with negative criticism due to it being a subscription service with many seeing it as a complete waste due to AdBlocker. Now it seems like the biggest YouTuber in the world has come to defend it.

Personally, I’m ok with if you use adblock on my videos. Ads are annoying, I get it, I’m not here to complain about that.
But for smaller channels, this number can be devastating.
I think what many people still don’t realize is that:
# YouTube Red exist largely as an effort to counter Adblock.
# Using Adblock doesn’t mean you’re clever and above the system.
# YouTube Red exist because using Adblock has actual consequences.
PewDiePie also did 2 surveys shortly after asking if they would spend money on YouTube Red. Only 6% of those who answered the poll said they would pay for YouTube Red. The other question asked if you use some form of AdBlocker and 40% of them said yes.
