With the pre-order announcement that physical copies of Grand Theft Auto VI would not contain a physical disc, people went onto the internet making claims that Rockstar Games were doing this in the hopes of preventing leaks at launch. Much like most things Grand Theft Auto related to circulated, this appears to not have any credence.
According to a source for The Hollywood Reporter, Rockstar Games does not have any intention of producing physical discs at launch or months after.
While there has been some pushback for the lack of physical discs as well as having several in-game features behind a paywall, the belief is it will not have an effect on the game’s overall sales.
Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19 for Xbox Series and Playstation 5.
