International Business Times Falls For Fake PS5 Fridge Joke

In what will be used as an argument for lazy journalism for years, the International Business Times published an article saying that a fake image posted by Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad showing a refrigerator with a Playstation logo in the top left and a PS4 controller in front of it as the official design of the upcoming console.

Many gamers around the world have made fun about the fact that a “professional” was paid to write this article and embarrassing as the news outlet are very credible and not satire. It even contradicts itself in part with the sentences:

If the image shared by the tipster turns out to be true (which could be a joke), Sony’s next-generation gaming console looks like a double door refrigerator (at first glance). Additionally, it looks almost the same as the Xbox Series X but a little slimmer.

The company have since updated the article to note that they got trolled and Ahmad joked about it on Twitter.
