Onoma, Formerly Square Enix Montreal, Shut Down

According to a new report by Jason Schreier of Bloomberg ,Embracer Group have shut down the former Square Enix Montreal studio. This comes just one month after the studio was rebranded to Onoma after Embracer Group closed their acquisition of the studio back in August.

Citing “people familiar with the situation” the company are doing this as part of cost-cutting measures. Some of the studio employees have been told they will be relocated to Eidos Montreal despite that studio also seeing budget cuts as well. This includes projects being scaled back as well as the cancellation of a kids on bikes” game.
