Shenmue III To Feature Minimal Load Times

Speaking with Eurogamer, Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki revealed that Shenmue III will have a minimal amount of load times. Suzuki said..

“This time, you’ll start in a large area which will require some initial loading, but compared to before the loading situation will be much better. It’s much faster now.”

The first two Shenmue games on the Sega Dreamcast would experience load times ranging between 3 and 10 seconds depending on changing locations or from gameplay to cutscenes.

Suzuki also went on to say that parts of the gameplay will be modernized, but a definitive control scheme has yet to be set. Stating..

“On one hand, I wanted to keep a similar configuration to the original game, but on the other hand, there are new trends in control that I’m considering. For the moment, I’m using the right trigger for running and the analog stick for camera control like the original. That’s current setup but I haven’t made up my mind yet [sic].”
