Miyamoto Says That Mobile Mario Games Not A “Primary Path”

Speaking with Variety, Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto discussed the future of Mario titles coming off the heels of the launch of the The Super Mario Bros. Movie. In the interview, Miyamoto revealed that the mobile Mario titles are not the “primary path” for the series despite having major success with multiple IPs.

Stating:

“Mobile apps will not be the primary path of future Mario games.”

“The intuitiveness of the control is a part of the gaming experience. That is why I played the role of director for Super Mario Run, to be able to translate that Nintendo hardware experience into the smart devices.”
