Fntastic Admits Part-Time Employees Are Working For Free

As confirmed by Well Played, the developers of the upcoming open-world MMO survival title The Day Before revealed that many part-time employees working on the title are not being paid. Fntastic, the game’s developers, revealed that many part-time employees are “volunteers.”

The company notes they refer to both full-time and part-time employees as volunteers. Full-time employees are getting paid while part-time employees art not. The company said of part-time employees:

“Anyone can be a part-time volunteer to contribute to the Fntastic community and get cool rewards, participation certificates, and free codes.”

Since this started to get more attention within the gaming community. Fntastic released the following statement to Well Played:

“The values of our company are about dedication, willingness to help, to deliver great products, and in doing so, being kind and open-minded. During the short history of our company, there have been many people who approached us and wanted to help in different ways. It doesn’t relate to code writing, or development itself though, but other important things such as moderation, localization, or simply rooting for us and cheering us up.”

The Day Before releases on March 1, 2023 for Xbox Series, Playstation 5, and PC.
