Crunchyroll, alongside Adult Swim, have announced they will be working on a 13-episode animated series based on Shenmue titled Shenmue the Animation. This series will be produced by Telecom Animation Film who have produced animes such as Orange, Lupin the Third, Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation, and Tower of God.
Series creator Yu Suzuki will be part of the product in an Executive Producer role while Chikara Sakurai will be the Director. Sakurai has directed shows such as Majimoji Rurumo, Little Busters, and One Punch Man Season 2.
