Rockstar Games Employees Expected Grand Theft Auto VI Delay

The internet will not be dropping the infamous “we got *insert thing* before GTA VI” after Rockstar Games announced earlier in the week that the game has now been pushed back until May 26, 2026. While fans are upset, it seems that those behind the scenes were not surprised at all of this decision.

According to Jason Schreier, many employees who are actively working on the title were not surprised that the game was eventually delayed past 2024. Schrier stated:

“Nobody I’ve talked to at Rockstar has believed Fall 2025 was a real window for a very long time now. Too much work, not enough time, and what appears to be a real desire from management to avoid brutal crunch. GTA VI slipping to 2026 has seemed inevitable for months if not longer.”

Investors for parent company Take-Two Interactive did not take kind to the announcement as immediately after the announcement shares drop 9% before climbing back up to end the day down 6%.
