With the crazy requirements needed to run a VR system like the Oculus Rift, many wondered if the Playstation VR will need some extra power as well. We now know that the Playstation VR will need an external processing unit in order to display all the content in full virtual reality.
Sony’s Ram Madhaven said that the processing unit does “most of the heavy lifting for the VR itself.” They also have “made it much more powerful, and are improving as they go to the launch.” This will be an all-in-one design.
