A spokesperson has confirmed to Bloomberg that NetEase Games will stop funding Nagoshi Studio after May 2026.
This is due to NetEase wanting to cut costs related to game development activities with Nagoshi Studio’s upcoming game Gang of Dragon needing an additional $44.4 million in development cost in order to finish the project.
Nagoshi Studio was founded by Like a Dragon series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi after leaving Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega back in 2021. The company are currently looking for sponsors, but have reportedly not been able to find any at this time.
