Microtransactions are one of the most controversial things in the gaming industry right now with many people saying it’s just a way of making a profit off laziness and locked content. Despite what you may think it is still huge business. Case in point, Halo 5.

Microsoft confirmed that Halo 5 has made $1.5 million just in microtransactions since last October when they introduced the ability to buy REQ packs. Because of this, Microsoft is now able to increase the winnings for their upcoming Halo World Championships to $2.5 million which makes it  the“biggest individual prize pool in console eSports history.”
