GTA 5 Single-Player Experience Dropped To Focus On Multiplayer

In what has been documented, but now reinforced Take-Two Entertainment CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed in their latest earnings call that they were going to expand the single-player experience, but dropped in favor to focus on multiplayer. Zelnick stated:

“The folks at Rockstar Games intended to create a powerful single-player experience and a story-driven experience… and then developed in addition, a massive multiplayer opportunity over the past years.”

GTA Online continues to grow and see record numbers in both users and earnings. Revenue was up 28% year-over-year and Grand Theft Auto V has been sold over 140 million copies worldwide.
