A very interesting item has popped up for sale on eBay as user swordofberserk has posted a working GameCube prototype controller.

Some things that were confirmed is that it is able to be used on both a dev kit and a retail U.S. GameCube as well as contain a 79 inch cord.

Based on the IRD No. 5153 number it is confirmed that IRD stands for Nintendo Research and Development and speculates that the 5153 would indicate this is likely one of the final internal controllers made prior to the consoles launch.
