BitSummit 2019 Dated

BitSummit 2019

The BitSummit Organization Committee have announced that BitSummit 2019 is happening and has a date set. This event will take place from June 1-2, 2019 at the Miyako Messe in Kyoto Japan.

With over 10,000 attendees filling the halls of Kyoto’s Miyako Messe convention center this past May, it was BitSummit’s largest gathering yet. Founded in late 2012, BitSummit is a pioneering and innovative gaming event unlike any other, paving the way for global exposure of Japanese independent developers, resulting in greater distribution and success in Western markets than ever before. In six years, BitSummit has established itself as Japan’s leading indie games festival, growing year after year since its humble beginnings as an industry-only gathering, and blooming into Japan’s second-largest annual gaming event. Japan Independent Games Aggregate (JIGA), the BitSummit organizing committee, is proud to announce the dates of “BitSummit 7 Spirits”—the seventh iteration of the summit—and that submissions are now open to developers looking to submit their game(s) to the show.

BitSummit 7 Spirits will take place the weekend of June 1st and 2nd, 2019, and will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. As has been tradition since the second BitSummit, all activities will take place at the Miyako Messe, the expansive and modern convention site of the past three festivals. As is by now tradition, BitSummit’s annual theme celebrates a distinct facet of Japanese pop culture, and this year’s event mascots take the form of seven “lucky” samurai spirits, as an homage to Japan’s samurai culture made famous throughout the millennia in book, movie, television, and video game form. The “7 Spirits” of BitSummit are distinguished by a single flame appearing above each character’s kabuto (helmets). The reveal of BitSummit’s 7 Spirits will debut in the near future.

Developers looking to submit an application to BitSummit 7 Spirits can do so between now and January 7th, 2019. More information on the application process can be found on the BitSummit homepage.
